Helen Melville
LMT
Helen is a Centre County native who participates in a variety of physical activities, predominantly horse training, white-water adventures, and snowsports. This leads her to an understanding of how important being able to move is for your physical and mental health. Helen has spent the two years she has had her massage license deepening her understanding of the muscular system through working with clients primarily utilizing myofascial and neuromuscular techniques. She is also able to provide deep tissue massage, pre and post event sports massage, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, muscle energy testing, basic lymphatic drainage, and Swedish massage. Aside from bodywork Helen offers Jikiden Reiki, which may be slightly different from experiences you’ve had with other practitioners in the Centre County area as it is the traditional Japanese training. She has completed both Shoden (Level One or “first teachings”) and Okuden (Level Two or “inner teachings”). With this thorough foundation Helen continues to develop her understanding of current modalities as well as expand into more.
Horses
Helen has been riding and training from a young age, providing important opportunities for experience identifying soundness issues, she is very excited to combine that knowledge with her massage training. Her equestrian background, primarily starting young horses under saddle and working with behavioral issues, gives Helen an understanding that a lot of behavioral problems stem from physical dysfunctions. Helen is able to aid your horse with general bodywork as well as reiki, and will soon be able to provide much more specific care as she works her way through the Masterson Method’s equine program.
